Was only a matter of time

LB you wrote:While they might not be a "common as grasshoppers", they are becoming a common sight around here. And I have seen a mountain lion, have you? They are as different from a house cat as a wolf is from dog, but I don't suppose an urban dweller like you would know what they were if you caught a glimpse of either one.

Define "common" please. Here is the dictionary rule for common place:
. commonplace - completely ordinary and unremarkable; "air travel has now become commonplace"; "commonplace everyday activities"
ordinary - not exceptional in any way especially in quality or ability or size or degree; "ordinary everyday objects"; "ordinary decency"; "an ordinary day"; "an ordinary wine"

So do wolves in your are fit that criteria? If so why would anyone talk about it around the water cooler? How many wolves does it take to become common place? How many are there in your area of SD? You say "you mean what you say and say what you mean", the trouble is when confronted you change the meaning or the saying part LOL!

Doesn't matter if local, state or federal txtibbs many people are one issue voters and they will go to those that fit the ideals of that main issue! That is america free to choose! Just like LB is one issue against her state Game dept and she has that right as well, some it will fit nicely with, many others it will not! America is a free country to voice your thoughts and opinions, but if your stating them as facts then you need proof to back it up or it is just an opinion and bias heavy.

Oh and to strip your vote over this?? You must lean more toward the sioux falls (southdakotahunter) class of thinking anyway......

hoot hoooot

I am so sick of this east river west river bullsh!t. Keep you @ss in texas where it doesn't bother us!

I would bet that post of sd123 was someone already on here. As for Tony Dean being anyone on here, I don't think so. He has his own website that gets to LB pretty easy, He wouldn't waste the time.

Sure there is a difference between ranchers and farmers, but you know what? We ALL live in the same state. Like it or not that little river means nothing in Pierre. And we ALL have to follow what the people in Pierre make law weather we like it or not!

I agree with LB on somethings that deal with grazing and such, but I disagree on other things; GF&P policies. I want some sioux falls yuck telling my how to run my farm as much as I want LB telling me how to road hunt!!

One thing I do find funny, with the exception of SJ, is that all the adament followeres of LB on SD laws are NOT from SD. PT for example has one of the biggest mouths of all. Such a hypocrite! He doesn't want goverenment telling him what to do and wants local control, yet he thinks that he has the right to tell me what should be law in my state???????

I understand that this is a "ranchers" site and SDH should have expected a beating for some of the things he posted. But on some other topics, sometimes some of you have such a closed mind about things. I mean if you want this place to be that closed door and want to just have everyone pat each other on the back and circle jerk each other off, then go ahead, I think I need to leave.

I do not live in your state but I would bet that some of my federal tax money is spent in your state!! When I went to the service in 1969 I thought I went for the good of a whole country ,I sure wish they had explained the South Dakota thing. I guess iI am entitled to an opinion on a public board If I want.

And let me guess, no federal money is spent in your state????

I don't get on my high horse and tell you how to hunt/farm/ranch in your state and I expect the same out of you. Sure have an opinion, but you know what, it doesn't count, it doens't matter, you have no vote and no voice here.

Your post, PT's post, just goes to prove my point even more. The biggest cry babies behind LB are OUT-OF-STATE YAY-HOO"S who voices doesn't matter nor count! You advocate local control yet put me down and bash me for voicing my opinion on MY local control, not yours!???

Sorry I didn't mention you Doug, but you don't have the mouth full of crap as PT does :)

Come on pjoe you can surely come up with something more original and cutting than that. I was really disappointed in you.........

I live and work in SD so I guess I get to have a voice here...

I for one am glad LB is in Pierre, and thank you for your service.

I think she has done a world of good bringing attention to the ways of the game and fish, and the bullshit they constantly pull.

Do I think I will ever get attacked by a Mt. Lion. Probably not. Do I think someone will be killed by one in SD. Yes I believe there is a very strong possiblity of that happening in the very near future.

There are way more Mt. Lions in the black hills than what they can handle habitat wise. Most people dont report all of the sighting that actually take place. There are cats in and around all the towns in the black hills. They get hit in the S curves during the Sturgis Motorcycle rally. That happened 3 or 4 years ago. They get hit on hwy 20 between Reva and Buffalo. There are like 30 cars on that road in an entire day. I know both of these happened for a fact! My cousin lives in Rapid and almost hit one 3 weeks ago coming home from work. She lives in town! There was one in Spearfish no more than 3 blocks from the college that was in someones back yard eating their cat. There was another one found under a picnic bench in the deadwood park. These are just a few instances! WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Sooner or later they will get some little kid. They need to be hunted, both to trim the numbers and to instill some fear of people. Nobody seems to have a problem with the state of Wyoming killing more of these cats every year in their black hills. They even let them use dogs! Not our game and fish though. For all of you people who think you know something about mt. lion behavior and are familiar with the black hills, please answer me this. What drives a predator? What is their main concern. FOOD is the answer. And where do the deer hang out, especially in the winter in the black hills? Give up? IN TOWN!!!!!! They are so bad here that Rapid City had to hire sharp shooters to shoot the deer in town because of all the vehicle accidents. Same holds true in Sturgis, Spearfish, Deadwood, Whitewood. What does that give you. A reciepe for disaster. Where the food is, the predator will follow!

Don't forget Pierre, they had like 100 deer shot in town this winter.

I agree with you and LB about more MT lions needed to be shot, I don't think we need to treat them like a coyote, but I think the season dates need to be changed or something else done.

It also pist me off when we allowed the Sierra Club, or whatever California tree-hugger club, to sue the GF&P over allowing a mt lion season. Pure BS. They had no right to tell our state how to mangage OUR local resources. Same goes for some of you(read PT) on here!

P Joe I am sure you do not talk to people in person like you do here. If I come to your state and I hunt I would venture to guess that I will pay more than my fair share to the state and local economy. I have a hard time seeing your reasoning and attitude. You do more diservice for sportsman running your mouth than you will ever realise. When some good person asks some of these fine people to hunt there land you may be the first thing that pops into there mind and about 99% of the sportsmen in this country do NOT need a spokesman like you.

I support Betty. Thank you, Betty for your service.

I don't think sd123456789 has spent many days in Pierre during session. I have heard some pretty hard arguing done on the floor and in the halls.

I guess I like what Betty does, her values and morals.

If all I was interested in is professionalism and speaking ability, I would want someone like Ex--Governor Spitzer.

If sd123456789 feels giving up 95% of what he agrees with Betty on, for a good speaker/ professional person, that is his choice.

If Betty had never revealed who she was we would not be having this discussion.

If I felt as sd123456789 does I would have called Betty, talked to her face to face, or written her a signed letter. I would not have done it here anonymous.

I don't care how much money you spend in this state! You have no right to tell me or any other south dakotan how to enofrce or make zoning laws, taxes, or hunting laws. You want a voice, buy a piece of land here and build a house! Otherwise keep out of OUR state business!

Another thing, if you don't get the east\west river thing, then you have no IDEA about how things seem to pan out in SD. And a question for you, why do you think you have the right to tell us how to run our MT lion season??? Where do you get off??

Does that mean we can not donate to LB's re-election? :)

Oh, could you tell Tony Dean Hi for me?
Have a nice day.

Good question! I don't know if you could or not. If I had to guess, I would say you probably could in some form or another. LB might have to explain why some out-of-stater was donating to her campain fund.

Why don't you tell ole Tony yourself, seems you read more of his crap more than I do!

LB might have to explain why some out-of-stater was donating to her campain fund
It happens all the time.............what rock you been hiding under.
It's a little thing called property rights...........something some seem to have forgotten. Property rights are an issue in all fifty states

Did you fall off you rocker???

What gain could you get from your out-of-state contribution to LB's campaign fund and what would it have to do with property rights in the state of South Dakota?? :???:

You musta fell off your rocker................do I ave to explain it to you about property rights and how standing up for property rights can snowball to other states................geez.

You have your one vote in your district to use wisely and that is as far as YOUR VOTE can be used, you are but one vote amongst many and they must have over rode your vote. Please show me where I said anything in this thread about changing ND game laws. An my opinion on anybody running there mouth that claims to be in the same group (hunter, sportsman) as me is mine to voice no matter where in this country it is. My advice to you is if you want more hunting you need to buy more land or votes :tiphat:

Ahhh, whoever asked for that????

The last thing I said was that it pist me off that some california group could sue our state GF&P for how WE, the State wanted to run our mountain lion season. Now tell me, how the hell to you translate that into the crap you just wrote???

Very simple if you want to have control over the land you hunt buy enough hunting ground to satisfy your hunting needs. You have one vote that is thelaw of the land, if you want more people to vote your way you need to buy(campaign) voes, it is really very simple. By the way you said I was telling SD how to set up there game laws would you please show that quote :tiphat:
