Those are not curs, they are pits, big differenceHaytrucker said:My little dog; obviosly would never be in that fight.
(and it looked messy; baling wire)
I'd bet that really happened, as sad as it is; and I'm going on record directed southerly: shoot your curs!!!
T Bulls first, then what would pass for a dog.
Angus Breeder - I don't know where you are from, or what kind of relationship you have with you neighbor's, however, I think for the purpose of setting the record straight I would, in a very friendly manner, express to your neighbor your apprehensions regarding their dogs. You will probably get the same old story that THEIR dogs are so-o-o sweet, and s-o-o-o wonderful, and wouldn't hurt a fly! Well, you are not concerned as to whether they would hurt a fly or not, but you are concerned about whether if, for ANY - ANY reason in the future, your children might be the target of an accident with their dogs. I would also check with the State and Local authorities as to what the law says about Pit Bulls. I have owned dogs whose ancestors were bred and trained as Bear Hunters and Pit Fighters, (Not Pit Bulls) and I can tell you that they are a handful to handle!! They were Akita's, and with my family and me they were terrific, but with other DOGS - they were Hell on Wheels. I know what I am talking about. The genetics that are built into pit bulls are THERE, and some day- some way they might exhibit their "built-in" characteristics. Make no mistake about it! It might just take a slight movement or a look or a different sound than they are accustomed to or you or your child may accidentally squeeze their ears, or pinch their hide a little too much or ANYTHING -ANYTHING AT ALL - -and it's 'Kattie Bar The Door" and the damage is done and you may have a dead or maimed child or perhaps yourself. I am not trying to scare you - but I am trying to prevent your being on the wrong end of a catastrophy. Make sure that your neighbor REALLY KNOWS exactly how you feel. I think that anyone who would own THREE pit bulls in light of the trouble that they have been causing in the country lately are damned fools. But that is just my opinion!Angus Breeder said:Guys I was out of town for the first 5 pages of thoughts on this subject, however I would like to thank you for posting the pictures. My wife and I had our first baby about six months ago, and shortly our neighbors invested in 3 pit bulls. I knew they were bad but never really realized how much they ought to scare me until I saw the pictures. I think the handwriting might be on the wall. Thanks again.

Angus Breeder said:Don't get me wrong, We have a 3 year old Choclate Lab and love her dearly, however she has the ability to retreive bred into her not the ability or fondness to kill. That being said if she ever acted aggresively towards children I would put her down in the blink of an eye as hard as that is to say! There is just an erie feeling of helplesness when you are being chased across your own yard!!!!! Hope nothing ever happens but be prepared for if and when it happens. The neighbor lives about 200 yards from us. Crossing my fingers that she cannot afford them anymore or they decide to play on the road one day. Easier to explain a run over dog than anything else. I don't want to sound like a bad neighbor but there are some things that just push the line. Side note: She refuses to pen them up and the county has no leash law or viscious dog laws. Any thoughts on how to best handle the problem.

I am in total agreement with you. Denny is the one I was refering to, about killing all dogs around him.
I think there ought to be a law about dangerous animals. If they showed any sign of harming you or yours, you have the right to defend yourself. Especially on your own property.
Maybe have someone video how they act when they are close to you. Then if they would just happen to get shot while it was on tape, you would have a record of why they were shot and a good defense.
If there is no fence, I would think that you have a legal right to make your neighbor fence them in or at the least, you could build a fence to keep them out, tho' that isn't the way it should be. Do you have fence laws for livestock? It might be one way to get the neighbor to fence their "livestock" in.

Sounds like some of you are in just too crowded of an area.
