They won a few cups when everybody else was at war fighting for their country. That really gets my father-in-law going lol.

Seems to me they had a star player that volunteered for the war, then came back to play.
At any rate, how could anyone not like Bob Gainey and Guy Carboneau???
This team doesn't get near enough credit / respect, all everyone wants to talk about are the Maplelaughs.
Seven players with 50 or more points (no other team can boast that), and not one player even close to the top ten in scoring and yet still the highest scoring team in the league. And they're all kids! (Well, except Kovalev and Koivu :wink: )
An Edmonton Habs final would have been something to see.... talk about speed.

As a life long, die hard Leafs Fan..... I think they kicked Montreals butt a week or so ago didn't they? and before you go into the play off thing.... next year is our year... I just know it...actually the last year they won it was when I was born.... but you gotta keep the faith ya know!!!

Yup.... big troubles in the capital. That team has never been able to handle adversity. And of course their puck stopping situation is in shambles. Time for Alfredson, Emery, and a few others to move on and bring in some character players with some grit, the likes of Darcy Tucker. Maybe some sweeping upper management changes too.

Did anybody see the goal by Gaborik that was called off? The reason given was the ref "intended" to blow the whistle, if that was the case fine, but why did they review it then? Flames really picked it up a notch after that, but the good guys won in the end. 8)

No that wasn't the reason, but I have taken a lot of flak about cheering for the Leafs all these years, like i said, die hard fan, its all about "next year" kind of like farming and ranching!! 8)

The Leafs have been dead to me since Wendall Clark left-Darcy Tucker is the only one who plays every game like he gives a rats ash. Cliff Fletcher's 'draft schmaft' remark is coming home to roost-instead of trying to sign overrated over the hill free agents the Leafs should be wooing the Oilers scouts at least they can recognize talent to be. They might have some Europeans in T town with perceived talent but they ain't winning with them. Talent only beats hard work if talent works hard.

After tonight I have decided to cheer on the Calgary flames in the playoffs....I am not sure how many folks watch the flames vs canucks saturday night...Jerome inginla showed such awesome classy behaviour it reminded me why hockey is such a gentkmens sport....He scored his 50th goal in the game and his team are off to the playoffs,he had every reason to leave the ice at the end of the game to go celebrate both feats..He did not leave the ice but rather he and his teamates waited quietly as the Vancouver Cunuks players surrounded TREVOR LINDEN.Trevor is the best man to ever lace up a pair of skates in this town, it was his last game and will be retiring from playing in the NHL..Trevor may not be the best hockey player to come through this town but you wont find a better all round man like him in any sport...

After waiting patiently and quietly for Trevor to recieve accolades from his own team mates and waving thank yous to the fans, he appoarched the the bench to leave the ice.The Flames captain skated towards him as the rest of the flames team followed.He then shook Trevors hand and thanked him for a long and storied career..Ask after the game what Trevor said to him, as they shook hands,iginla smiled and said"that is a moment that will stay between trevor and I"...

A real classy guy,who put aside his own accomplishments so another could enjoy the moment that they deserved to have and enjoy....A classy move by a classy guy and a class team..I would if I could say thank you to Iginla and his teamates for respecting A rival teams player his earned moment to say goodbye to his fans.........Well done Calgary Flames..it is nice to see its not always about records and winning.but about what was and is good about the game of hockey.A gentleman's sport....

Sorry to burst the baloon but the wings and wild will never meet in the stanley cup final but it could happen in the western conference final. Maybe be a little more knowlegdable, hopefully the wild bandwagon has a good suspension so many getting on i can't wait to see them jumping off the bandwagon just as fast. You need to be more than a 2 line team to have sucess in the playoffs. My call a rematch Flames Vs Habs for the cup.
