    sale results SAV

Like most of you I admire the SAV cattle and the market that they have developed. I have used some SAV genetics and they have worked well for me and I might add that my management is nothing like SAV management. Heard a story the other day that may provide some insight into the high SAV sale...

    Rhino or Gator?

I have a 825i JD gator and really like it! Ours has a roof and a half windsheild. The half windsheiuld works great, stops the wind in your face yet you don't have to look through a dirty window. Didn't like the door on some machines, a pain when you are getting off and on a lot when fencing etc.

    Yeast in Riomax Lick tubs

For the last year I have used Riomax MIneral Lick tubs and have been pleased with the results. Consumption has been exactly where expected. This year Riomax has a new tub available that contains yeast with the same mineral and vitamin content. They are making claims about improved digestion...

    Be careful out there!

A neighbour lady of ours was killed a couple of nights ago when she went out to check cows. Her husband was a little behind her and he heard a commotion as he arrived. A cow which had apparently just calved, had attacked her. He had to use a tractor and front end loader to get her out. She...

    sav 8180 traveler 004

I'm with NR when it comes to his assessment of Really Windy. I've seen the bull at Billings too (about 5 years ago) and I really liked him, very correct, deep sided, enough muscle and a great disposition. I've seen quite a few progeny and I have used him. His daughters haven't been too big...

    Day at National Western

S Co rancher, I found some of your comments very interesting. You found the show cattle quite fat. I have noticed the same thing and I sometimes think it is a real shame that good cattle must be fed to become so fat that it impairs their usefulness as breeding cattle. I also noticed that you...

    this from Troy Marshall:

That's a very good point BMR and one that I don't hear very often. Ever notice how many cards are held by certain order buyers at our presort sales? If every card represents an order then there is effectively NO competition between any of those orders for calves. The buyer will buy the calves...

    Wheatheart Post Drivers

I own a Wheatheart pounder and love it. I can't imagine a better, safer and easier to use post pounder. They were designed to allow for pounding 10 or 12 fot posts for elk fence, but there's not much of that happening anymore. You might try Flaman Sales at Southey, Sask, just north of Regina...

    Waterers?

BMR, i too have several Canarm waterers and I like them just fine except for one thing. The covers over the floats are not strong enough. When cows are thirsty and competeing for water they will sometimes destroy the covers. They are only held on by 4 small screws and when the covers come off...

Cattle pics Faster Horses did you see these?

I can certainly relate to the genetics you are using. We have used both Sitz Alliance 6595 and TC Advantage heavily in our own herd. A TC Advantage son was high selller in our bull sale this spring. We will be selling Alliance daughters and many heifers bred to Advantage in the Grasslands...

Good calves BMR! Are they sired by the bull in the Picture? What is his tattoo or reg no. I'd like to look him up. Same with the cow and calf, got a tattoo or reg no. on her? Get down your way once in a while, would like to stop in for a visit.

    look at these bulls' pedigrees/EPDs

Love to help you out Ross, but your links didn't show any particular bull. just the search page. What happened or is my computer at fault?

    Bull Test Stations

Test Stations can be useful for two very good reasons. First they allow bulls to get more exposure than is generally possible than if they are fed at home, especially if you are a smaller or new breeder. The first bull I station tested topped the test and sold for a good dollar to an Ontario...
