    In our local paper....HORRIBLE!!!!

I read this early this am and have had it on my mind all morning and I have a couple conclusions. One is that it is hard to make a deep cut on your first go with a scalpal(which would be the only thing sharp enough to make such a swift cut.) What I mean is how did they get that deep with the...

    backing up

I start on the ground. Basiclly if you teach your horse how to properly give to pressure you can do anything. Some horses have a hard time moving your weight up(they have to lift their backs to back) so if you start on the ground it is easier. I just stand beside them as if I was in the saddle...

What do you expect from a colt put in 30 days training

I don't show much and when I do it's reining or working cow, but as a solid 2 I want them to respond to both direct and indirect rein, move nicely off of my leg with a willingness to learn. I don't want them to still be at the"yeah, but" stage. They should stop when pressure is taken off and I...

    What is it??

Ok I know what I was told but who knows the truth what really makes the noise that a gelding makes when trotting. Come on FH I know you know.

How to tell if a mare is pregnant?

I agree that when at all possible foal your mares out side, However I also totally agree that a new mare should be kept seperate and NEVER allow a gelding in with mares and foals. I did once, he started running the babies, I had to rope him and choke him down to get him out of the pasture. When...

    Horse 'paddles' Left front Excessively

I would pull his shoes and check if his hoof is flat or if your blacksmith has him unlevel. That will really cause a horse to travel odd esp. if he dubbed the toe too. I guess I'm kindda anal that way, NO ONE TOUCHES MY HORSES HOOVES UNLESS I KNOW THAT THEY ARE GOOD!!!! I have an excellent...

    Cactus Brand Saddles??

So do tell who made it and what are the specs. and if you are feeling brave can we know how much it was. I know that is not a polite question so don't answer if you don't want to. Post some pictures, I love to see what everyone else is ridding and I am gathering info myself for a custom saddle...

    Cactus Brand Saddles??

I saw a deal on RFD where they were the trophy saddles and the guy said that they were all hand made, hand stamped. Looked like a nice saddle, but if you want a good fit for your horse sad but true(only cuz they are expensive) you need to go to a good saddle maker.

Horse Barn Suggestions and experience please

Oh someday to have a horse barn, what a dream!! Put in the wash stall you will never regret it. You'll use it more then anything, for cleaning tack to dr.ing horses. I would aslo put concrete down for my isles, it just cleans better and less dust. Diffinately a little space for a vet cabinet and...

    Another horse scenario

The older I get the more I am turning to a more natural way of horse training. HOWEVER there are bad horses, I had one. I sold him at the MC Bucking Horse sale, he won sundays sale. Sucker was born to buck and thats that. I believe in God, slaughtering horses, shooting bad dogs, whipping bad...

Jingle Bob here's some pic's of the little mare

Why thank you. Up until 2 days ago they were just on grass. I don't baby them like dad did. Those old fat bags thought they where going to die, but somehow they managed!! We put them on salt meal the other day. I hate to do that because then they don't graze out as far, but it is that time of...

Jingle Bob here's some pic's of the little mare

I am a nut for King Fritz so I went to the source and visited with Les Vogt about him and the offspring he had from him. Said he was far and away the best horse he ever knew of. Kind and willing with tons of heart and he passed all he had to his colt's. I asked if he knew of any mares around...

    Stock Dog Training

I had a border/heeler cross. She decieded to start chasing the horses and one day when I was working some cows in the pasture she heeled my dead broke horse. He became unbroke and bucked me off, I hit so hard that it herniated(sp) 2 discs in my lower back. They still haven't healed. Notice I...

    Anyone wanna buy some horses?

Hey taking pictures of horses is not an easy thing. Set your horse up the wrong way and you get a giraff. I'm not an expert but a pro shared some things with me that might help. Number one have a clean background, no poles or trees or houses. These end up looking like they are growin out of your...

    Roper

Roper I know you said that that isn't your horse, however, for me the bosal is to low Looks like it needs to come up a little.

    Stallion selection

Hey RoperAB It has been our experience that a mare (or Mother Nature) takes care of the foal size issue. As a general rule a mares first colt will be smaller, not always of coarse, but its not like it is with cattle. On the vaccinating for westnile you need to do it at least 45 days prior to...

    Withers on Morgans

Judith you crack me up. How are we ever to sell what we raise if we don't tell everyone how wonderful they are :???: :???:

    Withers on Morgans

He is smooth, he has a big lope. My husband is not to worried about keeping a horse collected so he could be a lot smoother if he kept his back up under him. My kids ride him bareback and the don't come flying off of him :)

    Withers on Morgans

Well I said that I was gonna do it! Anyway these pictures leave a lot to be desired but you'll get the idea. The bay is Lucas's reg. Morgan gelding he is 13 and a true all around horse. Luke heads off of him, takes him to the mountains well I could list what he can't do easier, he can't have...

Can a horse be good under saddle and good in harness?

Call me a thread hog if you want I don't care. I have ridden a lot and driven a little and I think it only improves a horse the more you do with them if it's done right . That being said I have yet to see one of my mothers reg. Morgans not have withers and they are just as cowy as any other...
