    Becoming a Dairy Bigot...

Yes 45 secs of watching that is enough. And Yes obviously that was a staged video, it said in the article that it was an undercover video but that is certainly not true as the camera man is following them around a few feet behind. The organization that released this video should be brought to...

And u thought the wind blew in Texas

Yep no doubt about whether round bales will roll across a field as I have seen it first hand. 9 years ago we had a severe thunderstorm with straight line winds that moved hay bales like that. Took down about 2 miles of power line. The Rural Electric crew said that one hay bale was air borne...

    Rain

1.6" of slow beautiful rain. Not quite enough to run water in the water holes yet but still awful nice. Heard they have had 6.25" 30 miles west of me in the Little Rocky Mtns. That should keep Beaver Creek running for a while!

    Good Sunday Mornin!

Thanks from me too Shortgrass, I guess we all need daily reminders to keep ourselves focused in the right direction. Easy to get carried away with the things of the world and forget about the most important thing, that being where we'll spend eternity. Thanks again.

    thermo-sink waterers working well

They are expensive!! I bought 3 about a year ago and I think they were around 1450 a piece. They do seem to be pretty good quality though.

    Thunder

You guys may have to put your thoughts of global warming and bikinis on hold for a bit when the weather we have here in MT gets your way. Downright miserable day. -10 and 40 mph wind and snow!!

    Snow Storm

We have a real blizzard going on here in northern Montana, not quite 0 visibilty but only a about 50-100 ft. Has been snowing and blowing 30-40mph all night and this morning. Temp -8 degrees F Not to much point in trying to do any feeding today until it lets up I don't think. Better to leave...

    Drought assistance

I see no connection between welfare and disater checks. We as ag producers are producing food for the world, many times at margins that approach 0%. Wouldn't it be wise for a society to help fiance those of us that keep the food on their tables. Although from glancing at the counties posted...

    IT RAINED!!!

Looks like most around here got at least a shower, we fortunately had close to .5" Sure freshens it up for a bit, lets us get a good night sleep without worrying about fires. Suppose to be hot and dry next week so it doesn't sound like we are moving into a wet pattern yet. Thankful for what we...

Hows the moisture situation in your area

Here in the northern part of Montana the moisture situation is looking good. Most people have gotten a good bit of their field work done and am working on branding and turning cattle out to summer pasture. We know that we can turn hot and dry real quick around here and the saying "we are never...

    The wind is here

We really lucked out on the storm, just a nice 1" rain with only 20-30 mph winds, kind of nasty on the newborns but NOTHING compared to western SD the way it sounds. Hard to understand how a storm can crank up in intensity in only a few 100 miles away. We would have had huge calf losses if we...

    The wind is here

Here in northern Montana we average 11-12 inches of moisture a year. We've alway felt that if we could get 15-16 inches we could grow tremendous crops. Yes I think we would drown out with 40 inches, or start growing dryland corn.

    Weather Update, 11:06 MDT

We had about an 1" of moisture out of this storm, all rain here. You guys east and south it sounds like are going to get the brunt of it. Hope you keep most of your calves alive. Gonna be grass in this country this year!!

    Welfare?

The way I answer people being critical of "cheap BLM grazing leases" is the same way I answer folks that complain that farmers/ranchers in general are getting too rich. Go out and buy a ranch yourself if its such a good deal!!! That would change their thinking real quick. Anybody that has...
