“Eggs” How do you pack them?

Oat or grain sacks packed in make a pretty good egg carrier. I don't know the details, but son does it that way.

    baler

Sounds like it is not lined up correctly, or try sharpening the cutting blade. You might need a second person to watch it start and try to cut.

For Those In Western South Dakota

In 2002 our neighborhood had 25,000 acres burn mostly in the pine trees. Soo now there is dry pine wood to burn at our next fire. You have my best wishes for a hard rain along with all that dry lightening. May the rain gods give you something you need.

    Chokecherry trees

I am like the rest of you, have heard how bad they can be. However I have them in the fall and early winter pastures and have never had a problem with them. We ran sheep here for years when I was a kid and we never lost one to them. I've been back home for 25 years and no problems.

Looks like the whole world is on fire!!

Yes it is going to be a tough late summer and fall, with all these fires everywhere. I got my weed sprayer, 200 G, filled and started (test) yesterday. It seems the whole west is on fire. I finally got my hay picked up and stacked in the stack yards, so it is now insured. We've only had one...

    Brothers?

Mom shot one years ago and put it in the freezer. After the first course of inside cooked wild pig, Dad made her cook it outside. All for a very good reason.

    Cutting Studs

Yes that is exactly right, in the northern states. No flies and they don't bleed as much when it is cool. Horse raddish gets to hot to eat when it warms up. Thanks for the post.

    Ranches

This place was first surveyed in 1882 or 86, the surveyor ‘Spellman’ located the section line as 30 paces West of the residence, and that they were building a new home. Their residence was the West end of a log barn, part of which still is standing in 2006. The two residents were brothers by...

    Should I?

There is nothing wrong with a black baldy, especially the the mama hereford has alot of pigment around her eyes and bag. When it snows those white bags sunburn badly, and one has to doctor them. A black crossed with a shorthorn will sometimes present you with a blue roan. Nice cattle, but can...

Mountain lion run over by fire truck

Our county operator came to my house breathless to tell me he had almost run over a mountain lion with the grader. That is the way he grades our roads, doing 50 mph with the blade up. :?

Dead Cow and Calf - VERY Strange

For what it is worth, our next door neighbor had mutilations in the 70's. In real rough country that one could only access by air. Later I hired a kid from somewhere near Loveland CO, said his Grandpa climbed a windmill and sat there in the dark until a helicopter came by and picked up a cow...

    Another Tax Scheme

Estate Taxes, the State of Wyoming variety is my subject. When I went thru the process many years ago, we had the opportunity :? to take the three lowest cost land deals (current) that were in our immediate area, in which to average the Wyo state tax upon. I am not currently up to date on that...

    cutting bulls

Best to cut them standing, and from behind, they don't kick you if you curl the tail up tight in a circle by their tailhead. Have someone hold it while you work. Never knife cut anything without pulling each ball bag out firmly and consistently until the remaining part is just a thin string...

    Another Good One!!

I bought two yearlings out of him this spring. Ouch they were spendy, but nice. I've never used him before that I know of, however he is going to spend some time with my little girls this spring. I have bought bulls from this outfit before, and they (she) always tell me I have a very good...
