    Larceny at the AI Center

There was a number of semen tanks that were stolen in my area a couple of years ago. The thieves knew where the tanks were located and just what they were going after. Some of the tanks also had frozen embryos in them. As far as I know , they( the thieves) were never caught and the stolen...

    Dairy Cows

I can't believe you will have much mastitis trouble especially if you are running 3 calves per cow. Nursing calves are the best mastitis treatment there is.Those calves will harvest a lot of milk out of those cows and you will keep them off the market .Get those cows vaccinated with a good e...

I bred my cows to a bull that was collected in '75 and was in ampules. All of them settled on the 1st service, although I did have one that slipped her calf between 45 and 65 days. Life is too short for this kind of bickering.... I just found out that my vet was killed on snowy roads out in Pennsylvania. He always drove like a bat outta hell and it finally caught up with him. I will miss him greatly.

    Sore footed cows

+ My belief is that frozen cow turds are the main culprit for foot rot. Cow steps on one, splits the skin between toes, and you have an entry point for bacteria. If it is foot rot the whole joint will be infected and penicillin would be the drug of choice... Also want to make sure you salt is...

    Sore footed cows

Well........... Here's a few thoughts from a hoof trimmer....... Were these cows tender footed when you bought them or did they get sore later?? Frozen ground is hard for sore footed cows to walk on... Makes them even more sore.... Putting them on a bedding pack may make it a little easier...

    Not a cheap cow . . . .

Rest assured they didn't invest this kinda money without doing a fair amount of research about the cow and her cow family. She obviously is a cow capable of transmitting her good qualities to her progeny.
