    Blame the lawyers?

I'm venting here, so ya'll have to suffer with me. I'm on my own this winter. Hubby is on the road and as a matter of fact is in Red Robin's neck of the woods right now. So, hubby is gone...I now have 2 trucks that will not start and one tractor that is addicted to ether but will start with...

Everyone is writin letters... was this one a good idea?

My kids will be missing 5 days for the county fair next week. Like it or not...the teachers will be sending a weeks worth of work home with them tomorrow. OR monday I will be in that room when the bell rings. They usually try to avoid that. 4-H teaches great things. I've had to pay more than...

Poll: Have you registered your ranch premises yet?

My niece works for the USDA. She has all but threatened us to register. The more she yaps...the longer it will take. I was almost on the fence about it, till she came home with her lecture.

    cucs, peppers and maters

The garden has picked up since the bit of rain we got last week. Add in the heat and humidity this week... The kids are actually begging for a greazy burger. They are sick of fresh stuff out of the garden. The oldest requested that I "save" some for winter and not make them eat it all now. ...

    sipping vodka

A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak. After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done. The monsignor replied, "When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip." So...

Which Manual squeeze chute should I get.

Once I learned the right motion to getting the rear gate to open and close smoothly, I've had no problems. I work cows alone quite often. And this unit was the easiest for me to handle. You are right, The chute is too big for the calves but most often I don't need to run the calves thru. Ours...

Which Manual squeeze chute should I get.

I like my Strong Hold chute. Takes a beating, has a handle in the back to run the head catch...that is a great tool. Don't know how I ever worked cattle without it.

    Assortment of photos

Great photos TTB. All looks well in your kneck of the woods. I just have one complaint... who ever mowed that field of oats needs to have their behind kicked!!! Streaks left in our fields are not tolerable. I'm pretty anal about that, so I'm told. Good grass, great stock, good crops and you can...

    Kicking Bear program for kids(pics)

Here locally there is a place called Deerassic Park. They just built it a few years ago and are starting to get set up and geared toward educating the young-uns about the outdoors. Hunting and being in the woods is nothing new to my little ones but there are alot of town kids that don't even get...

Sorta green and proud of it

Thanks for the photo from a different part of the country. I just don't understand how a person can maintain cattle in NM. They look to be in good condition though. My cattle don't like to eat dirt.

heres some cow and hay pics

I agree with JB. You can tell from the picture that she isn't as thrifty as the rest. Bred or not, loose my backside or not, I'd have sent her down the road. Nice looking hayfields.

    Bow hunting bug already

I've got the bug really early this year. I like to shoot year round but can't find anyone that will shoot 3-D with me right now so I was playing with the bows. I was fidling with my old crossbow. It is old and loud. I think even the groundhogs jump the string on it now. The more shots that go...
