    A quick visit.

Just stopping in briefly to say hi to my old friends here. Lots of trying weather this year, but I think we might make green grass if we don't have any more snow storms. Greetings from NW SD. Tap

    Recent happenings.

I got busy around here again lately. But not too busy to snap a few shots. Here are a few pictures from the recent past. Kids and a batch of cats playing on the hay. A friends cake wagon. Dusty tap's hanging in his barn. The rest are several from a frosty morning.

    Greetings!

Hope everyone is having a good holiday so far. Been busy lately around here, but getting things done so that is good. Can you believe it is raining here at the moment? Can't remember that happening on Christmas Eve. I hope all of you have a good Christmas. No snow to sled on here, but I like...

Let's Hope I get this right.

I haven't posted pictures in quite a while. I hope I can get it done. This one is for Oldtimer. You can see this hay has seen a few years go by. I hope it stays that way too. It is good insurance. This cow is not hurting too badly either! Nothing but grass, water, and salt so far. Here...

    Stoppin' in to say Hi.

Looks like everyone is sound and healthy here on the boards. Things are slowing down for us here, but still have a few projects to do before the first of the year. As this place can be addictive, I slowed down on it some (if you haven't noticed ). Just for something to do with my photos, I...

Oh, Waldo is still kickin' - lol.

 Just hanging around enjoying life, TTB. Working, and running around seeing the sites some lately. And chasing the stray fire around the country. Had a bunch of them the other evening. Sorting some solid colored black cows off to put with the hereford bulls. Moving the rest to...

    Howdy from my hay camp.

Been busy haying a fairly poor hay crop, but we are seeing the end of it finally. The grass is great this year, but the hay ended up being worse than expected. Just wanted to say hi from my summer camp.

    OK, I promise....

The last of the last branding pictures this year. :-) We went over to the Jumpoff for a cleanup branding real early this AM. The Jumpoff is a fault in the earth where the world drops off, and the Indians of earlier years used it to run buffalo over it and injure them enough to kill...

    A little game.

Azcowpuncher, I thought I would post a few pictures that I have taken in my travels, and see if you or anyone else has a guess as to the general area they were taken in. You talking about different countries you worked in popped the idea into my head.

    Two wraps and a hooey.

Today was our last branding of the season. At home anyway. One more small bunch left at a neighbors. I think I counted 14 different days we branded here or at the neighbors. Gets to be a long season, but we have such good neighbors that it is all fun. :-) The herd today was our late April...

He explains it better than I can. For Cal.

I have been too busy lately to post much. I thought late calving was easier. :???: :???: :???:  Kinda runs into haying and fencing around here. Back to the subject at hand. We were discussing why some of us prefer working horseback a while ago in a thread, vs. other methods...

Another nice June day so far.

Branded a few late calves, then moved some two year old heifers and their calves to fresh pasture. All the pastures look great, but we need to keep them moving on their rotation anyway. Eating some leftover grain after I took the horse out that I wanted. Coming down the slope with them...

The country still looks good here.

Might need another rain to keep things green, but for now it still is looking great for mid June. Fooling around the rocks. Can you see the cow barely visible in front of the lower right rock, and behind the calf? Some batchelor antelope bucks. Pretty good horns for this early. Sand creek...

    Got distracted moving cows.

Had just a second before I get kicked off the computer, so thought I would quickly add part of todays work. Or whatever it was. :o :-) Going to move the cows into the next pasture before they run out of grass. lol. As I gathered up this little bunch, I found the spot I am going to hide...

    Rain makes nice pictures anytime.

I liked this photo. Coming 2 yr. old virgin bull. The grass hasn't made him any skinnier. Is cactus supposed to be submerged? Bloomin' cactus! Moved a few pairs out. Any job is pleasant after a good rain. Got a few yearlings of the neighbors out after the cow moving. I...

    Our bigger branding day.

We did our biggest bunch of calves today. Had a great day for it, as it was cool and not windy either. :-) Branding smaller bunches as Soapweed does is much more relaxing, and less stressful, but we got the job done in good time and branded a lot of calves today. Looks like it will be a good...

    A perfect seedstock operation.

Since I ruffled TTB's feathers a little, I thought I would make a new thread and explain my thoughts a little better. What I was trying to say (and not insult any present operations really, and I think you know that) is that I think more pressure needs to be put on seedstock operations to weed...

    Todays 3

Here are three pictures that I liked. Taken today. Getting some work done, and photo op. at the same time. When the roses bloom next spring......... Is he looking, is he looking, is he looking???????????

    Good business?

Got this off the Cattle Report on the market section of ranchers.net. Quite the equity they had there. IN THE NEWS -- SWIFT BUYOUT IS ANNOUNCED Swift Brands was acquired by JBS, SA, to become the world's largest beef company. JBS, a Brazilian company who only recently became a public...

    Anybody want a herd bull?

Noticed this calf this afternoon. Thought we ought to save him to use on our later herd. But he'll get the knife I suppose.
